Continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRTs) are a series of extracorporeal blood purification therapies indicated for the treatment of acute renal failure. These treatments perform the same functions as hemodialysis but have a particularly long duration, up to several days of continuous treatment, and are administered in an intensive or semi-intensive hospital setting. Some continuous extracorporeal therapies may also be used in cases of respiratory or liver failure to remove excess carbon dioxide or bilirubin and bile acids. Medica SpA has developed a wide range of therapies and products for CRRT for both adult and pediatric patients.
