MULTİPL SKLEROZ

Definition

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a recurrent and often progressive disease of the central nervous system characterized by white matter demyelination. Normally, there is a fine balance between proinflammatory (Th1) and anti-inflammatory (Th2) cytokines. In MS, this balance is disrupted in favor of proinflammatory cytokines, resulting in demyelination. Autoimmune antibodies present in the serum may cause cross-reaction and lead to multiple sclerosis. On the other hand, the cause of self-tolerance may simultaneously lead to the presence of other autoantibodies in the serum and even to the development of another autoimmune disease.

Rationale

It may be useful in patients with MS by removing autoantibodies such as anti-myelin antibodies from the environment or by regulating the immune response. In particular, Subtype II Antibody/Complement mediated type (Subtype IIAntibody/Complement mediated type) aims to effectively remove disease-causing antibodies from the patient's plasma and improve the patient's clinical course.

Process

TDP, DFPP, CF, IA

Processed Volume

1-1.5 TPH

Frequency

It is scheduled 5-7 times in 14 days in acute attack and weekly in chronic progressive disease.

Replacement Fluid

Albumin, HES

Number and/or duration of applications

In acute MS, the response rate to 5-7 procedures performed in 2 weeks is 50%. In chronic progressive MS, weekly procedures are beneficial if it has been demonstrated, it should be continued for a long period; it should be reduced must be cut.
